Our Carbon Footprint Commitment for 2026

This year, Bush & Co’s focus on sustainability continues to grow, with a new carbon offsetting project already underway.

For Bush & Co, taking care of the environment is one way we look after the community we serve. Over the next 12 months, we’ll be supporting the development of sustainable energy in South Africa through the Longyuan Mulilo De Aar 2 North Wind Energy Facility, taking measurable steps to reduce our carbon footprint and help create a greener future. This project reflects our belief that businesses can make a real difference to the environment both locally and around the globe.

Read on to discover more about the facility and the positive impact it’s already making.

The Importance of Carbon Offsetting

At Bush & Co, we recognise that some carbon emissions are unavoidable, but we still endeavour to reduce our impact wherever we can. Sustainability is a part of everything we do, from day-to-day operations to the initiatives we’re behind.

Carbon offsetting is one way we can take responsibility for the emissions generated through business activities. We do this by funding projects that actively reduce or remove carbon from the atmosphere, such as our tree planting initiative which has helped plant 2,459 trees from November 2019 to February 2026. Through efforts like this, we can both counteract unavoidable emissions and also support local communities as we strive for a greener future.

Looking beyond Cambridge, we are now contributing to an exciting wind energy project in South Africa. By investing in the Longyuan Mulilo De Aar 2 North Wind Energy Facility, we’re helping tackle carbon emissions on a global scale. Every action we take, no matter where we are, contributes to a healthier planet for everyone.

Our Current Carbon Offsetting Project

The Longyuan Mulilo De Aar 2 North Wind Energy Facility spans 96 turbines and generates 144MW of clean electricity for the national grid, helping to reduce power that would otherwise come from fossil fuels.

Over the course of its operation, the wind farm is expected to offset greenhouse gas emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes of CO2 each year, providing a significant contribution to the global effort to curb climate change.

The impact of the project goes beyond carbon reduction. It also contributes to sustainable development in the Northern Cape by creating jobs for the local community and improving infrastructure. This has led to better roads, power connections and monitoring systems that benefit both the project and local people.

By supporting a project of this scale, we are demonstrating that ambitious initiatives can drive meaningful change for the planet and the people who depend on it.

Making a Real Difference

At Bush & Co, sustainability isn’t just a standalone initiative – it’s part of the story we’re building together with our clients. Every home you buy, sell or rent with us contributes to a brighter, healthier future.

Working with us means being part of sustainable projects from tree planting in Cambridgeshire to wind energy in South Africa. It’s an easy way of turning everyday choices into meaningful action.
